Tinklenberg statement on Elk River apartment fire

El Tinklenberg, former Mayor of Blaine, issued the following statement today regarding Saturday’s fire at Lions Park Apartments in Elk River:

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the many families displaced by Saturday’s fire in Elk River. While we are thankful that no lives were lost, our hearts go out to those who lost most or all of their belongings and now face the difficulties of relocating and trying to rebuild their lives.

At the same time, the response of the Elk River community has provided great hope in the wake of this disaster. Local first responders deserve our sincere gratitude for ensuring the safety of Lions Park residents and limiting their property losses as much as possible. Further, the outpouring of support from local churches, businesses, and community groups has been nothing short of inspiring.

Today I urge Minnesotans to continue to support the relief effort in Elk River. Donations of household items and furniture are being accepted at the Red Cross relief station at Elk River’s Alliance Community Church, 763-441-3368, between 12:30 PM and 8 PM this week. Monetary donations can be made by calling Hope Filled Hands at 763-262-4673. Please join us in contributing what you can.
